One of the best habits you can make is building exercise into your daily routine. The benefits of exercise go far beyond losing weight, getting into shape or getting 'fit.' How about making exercise a habit with your partner?

Why couples that gym together stay together.

The perfect activity this valentine’s day. The authors from Fitness Magazine did some digging to find out the benefits of gyming or exercise together. To there surprise, the couples that trained together were more likely to stay together.

A study in America by Michigan State University shows that couples who set out to achieve something together, be it quitting smoking or going to the gym, are close to 100% more likely to achieve success than those who go it alone. The trend, it turns out, is universal.

With February being the month of love, more and more couples are looking for new ways to grow together. Research shows that foregoing the traditional candle-lit dinner for the gym can have some real, tangible benefits.

In a study undertaken by University College London, over 3000 couples and their habits were analyzed. Those that went to the gym together were more likely to beat their unhealthy habits than those that didn’t. Furthermore, the research pointed towards a phenomenon called the ‘halo-effect’, a powerful placebo effect which made couples feel warmer towards one another.

Exercise releases endorphins in your body, a happy-hormone that reduces stress and increases pleasure. The word is a shortening of “endogenous morphine”, so it’s no surprise exercise makes you feel so good. And this feel-good factor is amplified with your significant other at your side.

Set yourself on the right road towards maximum health. Most people have some “bad” eating habits that they find hard to break. Because of these, our bodies are permanently under assault from toxins and over time, this can damage cellular health and contribute to the ageing process and age related diseases. Working with your partner to achieve your goals, you will be more likely to break those bad habits in the kitchen too.

We all have our own personal habits, both good and bad. Good habits are life enhancing, like exercising, eating well and practicing meditation every morning. But bad habits can be frustrating, irritating and destructive.
